September 2016

“Your life will be enlarged in proportion to the amount of iron you have endured, for it is in the shadows of your life that you will find the actual fulfilment of your dreams of glory. So do not complain about the shadows of darkness – in reality, they are better than your dreams could ever be. Do not say that the darkness of the prison has shackled you, for your shackles are wings – wings of flight into the heart and soul of humanity.”                                          Streams in the Desert- Lettie Cowman

As September has come, we have seen a mixed bag of weather so far. Autumn has brought us both the cold wet weather as well as the dry hot & humid, but we still need to praise our God for all His blessings. Here in Northern Ireland, September has made a new record as the 5th was the warmest night ever recorded.

Just after reading these words that Mrs Cowman penned in her book many years ago, I believe they are still very real in 2016. Life is not easy and is getting harder as each month passes by, but our shackles that bind us will strengthen us to become better people for our God to use, if we only relay on His strength when we are weak!

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong”.       2 Corinthians 12:9-10
